Who carries the parcel, and who updates you
Two different parties are involved, and keeping them apart is the honest way to describe how tracking works here. The parcel is physically carried by the courier or air-freight channel used for your route, and the movement record belongs to them: their scans, their hubs, their last-mile partner. Our side does not move the parcel and does not have a private live feed of it.
What we do is keep the order together in one conversation. When the parcel is handed over, the dispatch reference is issued and sent to you in the same WhatsApp thread that already holds your specification and the photos you approved. From that point on, updates are written into that thread by our team as the carrier's record changes. Nothing about that is automated and nothing about it is instant.
How often the thread is updated
Updates are sent when there is something real to report, not on a fixed clock. In practice that means four moments:
- Handover to the carrier. The parcel is packed and dispatched, the waybill is created, and the dispatch reference is sent to you.
- A change in the carrier's record. When the record shows the parcel moving to a new stage, that change is passed on rather than left for you to decode from a scan list.
- Arrival in the destination country, where the record passes to the local side and the next steps depend on customs and the local delivery partner.
- Out for delivery or delivered, as reported by the carrier for your address.
Between those moments there is often nothing new to say, and fabricating a daily message would be noise rather than information. If the record has not moved, the honest update is that it has not moved — and that is what you will get. Because updates are written into the thread by hand, they arrive when we have read the carrier's record, not the second it changes.
Two ways to check on an order
There are two routes, and they tell you different things. Using both gives the clearest picture.
- WhatsApp, one to one. This is the fastest route for an interpretation rather than a raw record. Send your order reference and the destination country, and you will get a plain-language answer drawn from the carrier's record: where the parcel last moved, what stage it is at, and what is expected next in general terms. Because the thread also holds the reference, the approved photos, and the destination, a question here is answered with the whole order in view.
- Carrier lookup, with the waybill reference. The dispatch reference we send is the number on the parcel, and it works in the carrier's own tracking tool. That is the rawest record that exists: their scans, in their order. It is worth using when you want to see the sequence directly, and worth pasting back into the thread when a scan needs explaining.
On some routes the carrier's lookup shows door-to-door scans; on others it stops updating once the parcel is handed to a local partner in the destination country. That difference belongs to the route, not to your order, and it is one reason a thread update and a carrier page can look like they disagree when they do not.
What each status means
The words below are the ones used in the thread. They describe stages, not dates.
| Status | What it actually means |
|---|---|
| Prepared — your piece is packed | The piece has been checked against the specification agreed in your thread, you have seen the photos, and the parcel is closed and waiting for the carrier. No tracking record exists yet at this point, because the parcel has not been scanned by anyone. |
| Dispatched — handed to the carrier | The parcel has been handed over and the carrier has opened a record against a waybill. This is the point where the dispatch reference becomes useful: it is the number written on the parcel, and it is what the carrier's own lookup works from. |
| In transit — moving or waiting between scans | The parcel is between the origin and your country. A carrier may record several scans along the way, or none at all for a stretch. A quiet period here usually means the parcel is in a hub, on a flight, or waiting for a connection rather than anything going wrong. |
| Arrived — reached your destination country | The parcel has landed in the destination country and is somewhere in the local process: customs clearance, a sorting centre, or last-mile delivery. After this point the records come from the destination side, and their depth depends on the route. |
After the parcel has arrived in your country, two more things can happen before it reaches you. Customs clearance is decided by the destination authority, and a routine release is usually quick while an inspection or a request for information adds time that no sender controls. Last-mile delivery then puts the parcel in the hands of a local courier, who may call the number you gave, which is why that number matters as much as the address.
What tracking can and cannot tell you
- It can show where the parcel has been. Each scan is a fact recorded by the carrier at a place and a time.
- It cannot show where the parcel is right now. There is no live map here, and a parcel is often between scans while the record stands still.
- It cannot promise when the parcel will arrive. Customs and last-mile delivery sit outside the sender's schedule, so a reference window is the most that can honestly be said.
- It cannot explain its own gaps. When a record pauses, the carrier's next scan is usually the only thing that closes the question. Send the reference and the pause will be read back to you for what it is.
If the thread is lost or a number changes
A lost thread does not lose the order. Message us again with the order reference and the destination country, and the parcel can be identified from the waybill and the details held against your order. If you expect to change number while a parcel is travelling, say so in the thread before dispatch so the contact the destination courier may call is the right one. The shipping and delivery policy covers address and contact requirements in full, and the returns and exchange policy explains what to do if the parcel arrives in a state that does not match the photos you approved.
Common tracking questions
Does GunongTrade have a live tracking page or a tracking number I can watch in real time?
No. The parcel is carried by the carrier, and their scans are the record. What we can do is read that record for you, translate it into plain language, and keep it in the same thread as your order. There is no live map on this site, and we will not pretend that a page here can see your parcel in real time.
How often will the thread be updated?
At the moments when there is something real to report: when the parcel is handed to the carrier and the dispatch reference is issued, when a new carrier scan appears, when the parcel reaches your country, and when it is out for delivery or delivered. Between scans there is nothing new to pass on, so a quiet stretch in the thread reflects a quiet stretch on the route.
What should I send when I ask for a status update?
Your order reference or the item you are asking about, and the destination country, so the parcel can be identified from the waybill. If you already have the dispatch reference, include it. Everything stays in one thread, so the photos you approved and the status update are read together.
The carrier lookup has not updated for several days. Should I be worried?
Not on its own. Scan gaps are normal on international routes, especially when a parcel is moving between carriers or waiting for a flight. A record that stops updating is worth asking about, but it is not the same as a parcel being lost. Send the reference and we will tell you honestly what the record shows and when it last moved.
Can I get a firm arrival date from the tracking record?
No. A scan shows where the parcel has been, not when it will arrive. Customs clearance and last-mile delivery sit outside both our control and the carrier's schedule, so any date we gave would be a guess dressed up as information. What we can share is the reference transit window and the current record.
What if the thread is lost, or my number changes?
Message us again with the order reference and the destination country. The parcel is identified from the waybill and the details held against your order, so a lost thread does not lose the order. If you know you will be changing number, say so in the thread before dispatch so the destination contact stays reachable.
