Speedy P9 25 vs 30: 25 × 15 × 15 cm and 32 × 22.5 × 18 cm

The Speedy P9 Bandoulière 25 is published at 25 × 15 × 15 cm and the Speedy P9 Bandoulière 30 at 32 × 22.5 × 18 cm, so the 30 is 7 cm wider, 7.5 cm taller and 3 cm deeper. Measured pieces of the two came in at 26.0 × 14.6 × 15.2 cm and 33.0 × 22.9 × 19.1 cm, and the drops run the other way: the 25 carries a 21.75 cm shorter handle drop but a 9.5 cm longer strap drop than the 30.

Put the two references side by side and the split is width and contrast rather than style. The Speedy P9 Bandoulière 25 is published at 25 × 15 × 15 cm and the P9 Bandoulière 30 at 32 × 22.5 × 18 cm, so the 30 carries 7 cm more width, 7.5 cm more height and 3 cm more depth. A stamp hidden under the leather tab is what places either one in its season.

The two P9 sizes sit in a ladder that reuses the classic Speedy numbers on different bodies, so the published figures have to be read together rather than guessed from the name. The P9 25 is 25 × 15 × 15 cm while the classic Speedy 25 is published at 25 × 19 × 15 cm: the same width and depth, four centimetres shorter. The P9 30 is 32 × 22.5 × 18 cm against a classic Speedy 30 at 30 × 21 × 17 cm, so the P9 body is two centimetres wider and slightly deeper than the canvas tier carrying the same number. Measured pieces of the two P9 tiers came in at 10.25 × 5.75 × 6 in and 13 × 9 × 7.5 in — 26.0 × 14.6 × 15.2 cm against 33.0 × 22.9 × 19.1 cm. Neither the published row nor the measured piece replaces the other.

On those measurements the 30 is 7.0 cm wider, 8.3 cm taller and 3.9 cm deeper than the 25. The drops then run against what the sizes suggest: the smaller body carries the longer strap, at 55.2 cm on the 25 against 45.7 cm on the 30, while its handle drop is the shorter of the two, 10.2 cm against 14.0 cm.

What the two references are, and which line they belong to

Both references in the two clips are Speedy P9 bags. The P9 line is the leather version of the Speedy that arrived under the men’s creative direction from 2023: the coated canvas of the classic Speedy is replaced with leather, and the Monogram is printed onto the surface rather than woven into a coated textile. In the album the two are held apart by their codes — M2A047 for the black P9 25 with its pale print, and M2A036 for the grey-white P9 30 with softer contrast and darker grey trim.

Because the P9 is a leather line, the two references do not just differ in size. The black 25 sets a pale Monogram print on a dark body with black handles and black piping, so the print carries all of the contrast and the metal reads sharply against it. The grey-white 30 uses a softer print on a pale body with grey handles, piping, strap and luggage tags, so the same kind of print reads much quieter, and a warmer-toned metal looks less like a highlight because the leather around it is already light. A buyer comparing the two from photographs is usually comparing that contrast, not the seven centimetres.

The ladder the two P9 sizes sit in

Read the ladder below before the two-body comparison, because the tier names recycle. Every row is a published figure, and the two P9 rows are marked so they are not confused with the canvas tiers that share their number.

The pattern in that table is the reason the centimetres matter more than the number on the front of the bag. A P9 25 and a classic 25 are the same width and depth but four centimetres apart in height. A P9 30 is two centimetres wider than a classic 30 and taller than a classic 30 by 1.5 cm. If a listing says “Speedy 30” without a line, the number alone does not tell you which of those two bodies is being described, and the height is the figure that separates them fastest.

The seasonal stamp under the leather tab

Under the leather tab on a Speedy P9 there is a small stamped animal, and it changes with the season the bag belongs to. The first was a dove for Spring/Summer 2024, which arrived with a run of primary colours — the classic Monogram print, green, blue, red and Jaune Mat. Fall/Winter 2024 introduced the horse, alongside turquoise, amethyst and agate bodies and a group of ostrich leather versions in Cactus, Canyon and Red Rocks. Spring/Summer 2025 carried the lion with frozen lime, lemonade, summer peach, candy, ultra black and orange, plus ostrich leather in Black Carbone and Leaf. Fall/Winter 2025 brought the lobster, with green Sancha and Yuzu among its colours, and the upcoming Spring/Summer 2026 season is reported to carry a frog, in tones that include a golden lotus purple. The stamp is a production-season marker rather than decoration: it is the one detail on these bags that changes on a fixed yearly cycle while the body stays the same.

This is the single most useful thing to know about the line when a piece reaches you without its paperwork, and it is also the thing an ordinary photograph will not show. The stamp sits under the tab, so a front-on catalogue frame hides it completely; a photograph has to be taken with the tab lifted to make the season readable. Because the stamps are seasonal, two P9 bags in the same colour family and the same size can belong to different seasons, and the animal is the cleaner identifier than the colour name, which is reused across seasons.

Where the 25 and the 30 diverge in use

Size is the obvious answer and the less interesting one. Take the measured pieces first: the 25 is 26.0 × 14.6 × 15.2 cm and the 30 is 33.0 × 22.9 × 19.1 cm, so the 30 adds roughly seven centimetres of width, eight of height and four of depth. In a soft leather body that is the difference between a bag that takes a phone, a wallet and a pouch and one that also takes a tablet or a folded layer of clothing. It is also the difference in the way the bag hangs: a 30 filled to the same proportion as a 25 swings wider when carried on the strap.

The drops split the two more sharply than the dimensions do. The 25’s handle drop measures 4 in (10.2 cm) and the 30’s 5.5 in (14.0 cm), so the larger bag can be slipped over a wrist and the smaller one generally cannot. The strap goes the other way: 21.75 in (55.2 cm) on the 25 against 18 in (45.7 cm) on the 30, which is 9.5 cm of extra length on the smaller bag. The practical result is that the 25 hangs noticeably lower as a crossbody, while the 30 sits higher and reads more like a shoulder bag when the strap is short and a short crossbody when it is long.

The two measured pieces also differ in their interior wording, which is worth knowing before you compare two listings as if they were identical. The 25 piece is described with a lambskin lining, a matching pochette and an interior plaque alongside a zipper pocket; the 30 piece is described simply with a brown leather interior. The two descriptions come from different production years, so this should be treated as two recorded descriptions rather than as a rule for the line — but a listing claiming an identical interior on both sizes is a claim that does not match every recorded piece.

The glow claim the clips cannot settle

The catalogue wording for the black P9 25 calls its print phosphorescent. Neither clip demonstrates that. The M2A047 footage runs in normal light from beginning to end: it shows the print, the leather surface, the rolled handles, the detachable strap, the name tag, the key bell, the zipper, the black interior and the dust bag, but it never goes dark. A phosphorescent finish is the one feature a normal-light clip cannot confirm, and it is often the reason this reference is chosen over a plain black P9 25, so it should not be accepted from a description.

The fix is a specific request rather than a general one: a fresh clip filmed in the dark, plus a daylight photo of the same piece so the leather grain, the trim colour and the print contrast can be read under ordinary light at the same time. For the grey-white P9 30 the equivalent gaps are different — the clip covers handle stitching, the strap buckle, the side profile, the lock and keys, the zipper opening, the brown lining and the interior pockets, but it is not a packing test, so the honest answer to “will my tablet fit” is a measurement rather than an impression from the footage.

Reading a P9 listing: what to ask for

The point of asking is to get four numbers and one photo, not to negotiate. Start with the centimetres and check them against the line, because a P9 25 is published four centimetres shorter than a classic 25 and the difference is invisible in a picture. Then ask for the handle drop and the strap drop at both settings, since on the measured pieces those two run in opposite directions between the sizes. Ask which season the piece belongs to and, if the answer matters, for a photo with the leather tab lifted so the stamp is visible. Finally, ask whether the strap, the tag and the interior pieces are included, because those are the parts that decide how the bag is carried.

A message that gets a useful answer is short: “Please check the Speedy P9 25 in black or the P9 30 in grey-white — I want the current centimetres, the handle and strap drop, a photo with the leather tab lifted, and the pieces included with the option available for my destination.” For the black 25, add the dark-room clip request; for the grey-white 30, add a straight front view and an interior photo with the opening held fully apart.
