LV sizes follow the UK scale
The men's LV Trainer menu runs from LV 4.0 to 16.0, with LV 8 corresponding to UK 8, US 9 and French 43 in the republished LV table. A buyer coming from an EU 42 sneaker should not read the two numbers as equivalents. The women's Trainer is a separate EU 34.0–42.0 menu. The same digit therefore belongs to different rulers depending on which page it came from. Ask whether a listing quotes LV, UK, US, EU or a foot length in centimetres; those are not interchangeable labels.
Size-down advice changes by reference
Most LV Trainer colourways publish one size down, a Monogram denim and grained-calf reference publishes one and a half sizes down, the LV Skate publishes one size down, and the LV Trainer Maxi publishes half a size down. The difference is not a typo across the model family; the page ties the instruction to the version. Read the reference code even when two photographs look alike. If the code is missing, use the centimetre foot-length ladder and treat any size-down advice as something to confirm on the exact product page.
Outsole is not the insole or foot length
A measured LV Trainer marked LV 6.5 can have a 28.5 cm outsole while the published foot length for that region is around 25.2–26 cm. The thick rubber base and toe wrap extend beyond the usable footbed. Asking for the wrong external measurement can make a correctly sized sneaker appear a full size too long. Ask for the insole from heel cup to toe and, separately, the outsole length. Compare the insole with your longer foot and leave the published allowance for the intended fit.
Volume and padding settle the feel
The LV Trainer uses a layered panel upper and a thick technical rubber outsole. It does not feel like a padded running shoe with soft foam around the heel and ankle, so a slightly long pair can slide rather than settle. A denim strap, shearling lining or heavier seasonal material changes how tightly the upper wraps the foot. The number remains the starting point, but material determines whether the extra room is useful or merely loose. Ask about the inside lining and the insole thickness on the exact colourway.
Convert the foot, then apply the reference
Measure both feet at the end of the day, with the socks you intend to wear, and record the longer one. Find that centimetre figure on the LV ladder, choosing the larger row when the measurement sits between two. Only then apply the exact reference's size-down instruction. This order matters because converting a US label carries rounding and brand preference; a measured foot is a physical check. Add the printed LV number, insole and outsole measurements to the request so the answer can be verified rather than inferred.
