The men's ladder, with the letters in the middle
Gucci's men's tops chart runs from Italian 40 to Italian 60 and attaches letters only to the block between 42 and 56: 42 is XXS, 44 is XS, 46 is S, 48 is M, 50 is L, 52 is XL, 54 is XXL and 56 is XXXL. The Italian 40, 58 and 60 rows carry no letter at all, so a buyer looking for an XXS is looking inside a range that starts above the smallest size the house lists. Shoulders step one centimetre per letter, from 44 cm at XXS to 51 cm at XXXL, and the chest steps four centimetres, from 86 cm to 114 cm. Those are body measurements — the target the size is cut for — and the chart is a size chart rather than a garment specification.
What the product page adds that the chart cannot
The chart gives body figures; the product page gives the finished piece. A men's brushed cotton jersey sweatshirt is published at a 67.5 cm length, a 61 cm shoulder, a 60.5 cm chest and a 62 cm sleeve against size M, while a cotton jersey sweatshirt with print in the same letter gives a 54 cm shoulder and a 64.5 cm sleeve. The chart chest for men's M is 98 cm, so the 60.5 cm flat chest is roughly a third wider than the body figure — that difference is what separates a body chart from a garment measurement, and it is why two Gucci pieces in the same letter can feel a size apart. Sleeve figures are the least comparable of all, because some pages measure from the shoulder seam and others count the shoulder drop as well.
Oversize and regular, sitting on the same shelf
Gucci writes the fit into the product copy, and the words change the answer. A men's cotton jersey hooded sweatshirt is labelled "Oversize fit" with a shoulder drop of 71.5 cm, a 63 cm chest, a 54 cm sleeve and a 70 cm length at size S; another hooded style from the same season is labelled "Regular fit" with a 63 cm chest, a 95 cm sleeve and the same 70 cm length at the same letter. The chests match and the sleeves differ by 41 cm because the field is defined differently on the two pages. Read the fit word, then the figures for that exact style, and treat any general answer about Gucci sizing as unverified.
Italian, US, UK and JP in one row
The women's chart carries more columns than the men's: Italian, European, UK/AU, US and JP, plus shoulder and chest. Women's S is Italian 40, EU 36, UK/AU 8, US 4 and JP 9, with a 40 cm shoulder and an 86 cm chest; women's M is Italian 42 with a 41 cm shoulder and an 89 cm chest; women's L is Italian 44 with a 42.5 cm shoulder and a 93 cm chest. Because the men's chart drops the European and JP columns entirely, cross-reading the two is where most confusion begins. Use the men's chart for men's garments and the women's chart for women's, and treat the Italian number as the key both charts share.
