What "relaxed fit" looks like in centimetres
Across the Oblique hooded sweatshirt the chest goes 106 cm at 3XS, 113 cm at XXS, 114 cm at XS, 120 cm at S, 123 cm at M, 130 cm at L, 134 cm at XL, 136 cm at XXL and 142 cm at 3XL, while the garment length moves only from 61.5 cm to 68.5 cm across the same run. The chest steps are irregular — seven centimetres from 3XS to XXS, then one centimetre from XXS to XS — and the length is nearly flat. That combination is what a relaxed cut looks like on paper: the volume is added across the body rather than down the body, so the hoodie reads wider without getting longer. It is also why the flat chest measurement, doubled, is the number worth comparing against a sweatshirt you already own.
French sizes, and why the letter is not the number
Dior's ready-to-wear ladder is French rather than Italian, and the two are not interchangeable: an FR 38 is usually read as a UK 10, while an Italian 38 sits two steps lower. Because Dior prints the model's size as "M (FR)" rather than as a bare figure, the letter and the French number are two views of the same label. When two Dior pieces are compared, compare the French figure first. The house also cuts most ready-to-wear close to the body by design, so the fit word on each product page does more work than the letter: relaxed, regular and oversized pieces from the same season can sit a full size apart on the same frame.
Cotton fleece, and how it behaves over a season
The Oblique hooded sweatshirt is 100% cotton fleece with ribbed cuffs and hem, a drawstring hood with metal tips and side welt pockets, made in Italy. Cotton fleece relaxes with wear and washing rather than shrinking, so a piece that starts slightly close will give with time, and the ribbed hem is what holds the shape at the bottom. The published measurements carry a normal variation of about 2 cm, which matters when a listing quotes a single figure: 2 cm on a 123 cm chest is under two per cent, but on a 52 cm shoulder or a 66 cm length it is enough to decide whether a layered fit works.
Three measurements that settle the question
Chest, taken from underarm seam to underarm seam and doubled; centre-back length, from the back collar seam to the hem; and shoulder point to point. Those three, compared against a garment you already like rather than against your body, decide a Dior clothing question faster than any size conversation. If the listing shows a style reference, send it as well, because the fit word is published per style and the same season carries relaxed and regular versions that read differently at the same letter — Dior's own model note on the Oblique hooded sweatshirt, size M (FR) on a 185 cm frame, is a worked example of what the house means by relaxed.
